12:30 - 15:30
"Isolate and integrate"
Description:
We will explore selectively moving individual body parts to interpret the music, and incorporating these movements into West Coast Swing. We will begin with targeted drills for improving your individual movement and integrate these into basic as well as complex patterns. We will also dive into how to incorporate isolations playfully and creatively--all without sacrificing your connection to your partner.
16:00 - 18:00
"Switch Workshop"
Description:
Technical Tools for Clear & Confident Switches with Clem & Evi
Ready to switch with control and clarity while still dancing West Coast Swing? In this 2-hour technical workshop, Clem & Evi will guide you through the essential techniques and concepts behind seamless switches. You’ll work on various fundamental concepts such as taking and giving the lead, as well as various techniques to switch such as position-based switches, timing-based switches, and tone-based switches.
This session focuses on building confidence in both initiating and responding to role changes, using clear communication and responsive partnering. It's ideal for dancers looking to expand their versatility and connection skills on the social floor.
Requirements: You should be comfortable dancing common six- and eight-count patterns (e.g. Sugar Push, Left Side Pass, Underarm Turn, Sugar Tuck, Inside Turn, Whip) in both leader and follower roles. Prior experience with switching is helpful but not mandatory.
16:00 - 18:00
"2nd Role Bootcamp"
Description:
Have you always considered learning the 2nd role in dancing? This is the right place for it. Our teachers will help you learn all the important basics. This will give you your first switch experience on the dancefloor and you can also take part in our competitions.
When booking tickets, it doesn't matter which role you dance in the WCS.
